Abstract

This study compares two techniques for child conditioning, tell-show-do and audiovisual distraction. The aim of this investigation was to identify the degree of child acceptance and collaboration towards the preventive treatment with dental sealants after each technique. The Frankl scale was used to assess the children behavior before and after the sealant application. As a result both conditioning techniques were effective; however in children with a negative behavior the tell-show-do technique was superior. In conclusion both conditioning techniques were effective for the children acceptance of the preventive treatment with dental sealants.
